While Uber has been in the Illawarra since March 2017, Ola stole a march on its ride-share competitor by launching in that region and the South Coast at the same time in late February.
Uber Australia's general manager Dom Taylor admitted they had sped up their plans to come to the South Coast - though not because of Ola.

"We've brought forward our plans to expand Uber across the entire state to help fire and drought-affected regions get back on their feet," Mr Taylor said.
The rideshare service is now calling for drivers to join Uber, with a view to taking the first passengers during Easter.
