Wollongong City Little Athletics Club will lead a heavy local contingent up to Sydney this weekend for the NSW Little Athletics Championships.

A total of 44 athletes from the club will vie for state medals at the Sydney Olympic Park Athletics Centre, with youngsters competing on the track and in the field.
William Willis and sisters Chelsea and Jamaya Wayne are leading contenders for discus medals, while Noah Towill and Joshua Benefiel will be near the front over the longer distances.
Also chasing middle-distance glory is Albion Park's Tayissa Buchanan, the teenager the reigning 800 metre champion, she will also contest the 400m event.
Buchanan is one of 24 Albion Park athletes competing this weekend, with Ruby Kerr hoping to build on the two medals she won last year.
Lake Illawarra will send a 20-person team to the event, while 15 Helensburgh, 14 Dapto and six Northern Illawarra youngsters will also travel up to Sydney.
