The four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 11 Harbord Street, Thirroul will be auctioned on March 31.
"Built in 1917 as a holiday home for a publican when Thirroul was a more paddocks than cafes, this home has been extended sympathetically to the character of the home with many of the original features of this full brick residence retained," selling agent, Trever Molenaar, director of Molenaar + McNeice said.
Mr Molenaar said interest in the property was primarily coming from families; in this case a mix of prospective buyers from the Illawarra, Sydney and Canberra.
He said the ability to live in the northern suburbs and potentially commute to Sydney for work was appealing to many.
"Most of them are families looking for a lifestyle change; it's a really family-orientated area with the beach, schools and the likes," he said.
"They're all looking to get into the northern suburbs, somewhere close to the beach, and a lot of them just love the character of it too.
"It's a north-facing block with plenty of character... You just can't build those homes any more, and that's why it has been well-received."
Mr Molenaar said the owners were selling as they seeking a lifestyle change.
"In the later years, the owners have put quite a large, sympathetic extension to the back, which essentially doubled the size of the house," he said.
"I think even in the current climate that we're in, we're still getting a big attraction to these really cool homes."
Features include more than 700sqm of level land; formal/informal living areas flowing to the yard; full brick construction with 10-foot ceilings, original period detailing; second-floor living space or parents' retreat overlooking a private yard; fireplace, solar panels, Blackbutt flooring and heat recovery ventilation system; and double-sized bedrooms all featuring built-in wardrobes.
