Woonona's Adax Brienen says he can take his beach volleyball game to another level after putting in an impressive performance at last week's national titles.
Brienen combined with fellow NSW teens Lucas Fletcher, Asher Gill and Killian Donovan to clinch a silver medal at the 2020 Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships.
The NSW under-14/15s boys performed well during the preliminary rounds in Coolangatta before falling to a red-hot Queensland opponent in the final.
Brienen said he was "pretty pleased" with his team's efforts at the competition.
"It was challenging and I didn't think we would do as well as we did," he said.
"Our team was a bit of a long shot to make the finals, but we ended up persisting and making it. I think it will help put on me on the radar for some coaches and next year, we can come back and do even better."
The 13-year-old said he had one, or two, particular highlights during the event.
"I managed to block a Queensland guy twice in a rally in the final. I think he was six foot, three [inches]," Brienen said.
Brienen's older sister Kaia and Mangerton teen Marli Towers also competed at the national championships, but they didn't reach the finals.
