The carnival was abandoned this week as a result of the spread of coronavirus, with Parker now forced to adjust plans for his horses.
Tampering claimed his first win in a 1400 metre maiden handicap in Nowra on Sunday and the trainer is confident the gelding can extend beyond that distance in the coming years.
"Originally I was getting him ready to go up to Brisbane, but that's all been called off now," Parker said. "So second plan, let's just win a maiden and get rolling.
"He's a lovely big animal, we just had to be a little patient with him early and hopefully we can start getting the rewards now."
The win came as Parker's Kembla Grange Classic runner Sorridere finished sixth in her first run since a disappointing showing in the Group 3 race.
