However, the self-proclaimed highlight of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW calendar won't be going ahead this year.
The coronavirus pandemic led to the cancellation of this year's show, which was due to run from April 3 to 14.
"I feel very much for the staff involved - there's 1200 permanent staff on the ground (for the society)," Mr Russell said.
Mr Russell was a dairy farmer for nearly 50 years, and has been on the council of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW for 40 years.
Mr Russell is a steward within the dairy section of the show's cattle committee.
He said the show's cancellation in 2020 was disappointing - and would result in a loss of income for the society - but necessary.
Mr Russell said there was a real sense of community and camaraderie among show exhibitors.
"There'd be somewhere around 30,000 entries - the arts and crafts, the pigs and poultry, cattle, horses," he said.
"The friendly competition brings the best out of people, so they'll miss that."
However, Mr Russell said there are already grand plans for upcoming editions of the Easter Show, including the 200th anniversary in 2022.
