Football Federation Australia last week postponed the A-League for the foreseeable future due to the COVID-19 crisis.
Play was halted after 24 rounds, with the sky blues holding onto first place.
"It's not ideal to have the league postponed, but anything to keep us safe is what we need," Shellharbour's King, 19, said.
"Where we're sitting at the moment is pretty comfortable and I think we're on track to be one of the most successful teams in history.
"But we haven't got the [minor] premiership yet, I think we need to win two more games. We hope the league will be put back on so we can finish the job off."
After making his A-League debut late last season, King has become a mainstay in Sydney FC's defence, playing 18 games. The teenager said it had been a great learning curve this season.
"I think I've grown a lot and improved," King said.
"I've made mistakes which is kind of a good thing, because I can learn from them. I think I'm comfortable on the ball and trust myself to get forward. Defensively, I think I've got better too."
With games and group training sessions halted due to fears over the coronavirus spread, King said he had been working hard at home to maintain his fitness level.
"At the moment, I'm doing an at-home upper body, core and leg program plus a little bit of ball work," the 19-year-old said.
"Unfortunately I can't do much ball work living in an apartment."
