Even Harbourside Fish Market which generally has people waiting to get in when the doors open at 5am only had five customers in the first hour of trade.
Among them was Tamara Sparkes, of Fairy Meadow, who said she had been getting her seafood from the business for many years but has never seen it or Wollongong so quiet.
She recalled when the business was at Wollongong Harbour she would arrive early and there would always be people waiting to get in..
"It was really quiet today which was so surprising," she said.
"Usually I go early because you have to beat the crowd.
"There wasn't much traffic around this morning either".
Mrs Sparkes said her plan was to act on the 'stay at home' message around COVID-19 and spend the day with her husband and two children.
Last year we had friends for dinner. But today we are going to spend it by ourselves. We are just going to have a family seafood day".
Harbourside Fish Market owner Tony Virtu said while Good Friday started quietly it was a different story on Thursday when business was booming.
Mr Virtu said everyone has been well-behaved and maintained social distance requirements.
Mrs Sparkes thinks everyone in the community can still have a good Easter.
"I hope everyone can stay at home and enjoy some good quality family time," she said.

"I am also getting lots of jobs done around the house".
