Two Illawarra educational providers are being assisted during the COVID-19 pandemic by the NSW Government.

The Kiama Community College will receive an additional $70,439 grant as an Adult and Community Education Provider contracted by the NSW Government.
The Workers' Educational Association Illawarra will also receive an additional $53,871 grant to aide in delivering the vital services and supports they provide to some of our most vulnerable citizens.
As contracted providers, both colleges support the NSW Government's objectives to help vulnerable students on a pathway to jobs by re-engaging students in learning and preparing them for work.
Member for Kiama Gareth Ward said the grant was needed to help education providers retain staff and provide additional funding to accelerate development of online learning at a time when the number of students physically attending colleges has decreased across NSW.
"This funding will go a long way to support the colleges during the COVID-19 pandemic. It will assist in the viability of the provider and allow them to undertake innovative work to prepare for online learning," Mr Ward said.
"These colleges are vital educational institutions in our region. They are made up of local students, teachers and other staff which form the community."
Minister for Skills and Tertiary Education Geoff Lee said it was important to support the sector during the COVID-19 pandemic.
