Highway patrol officers spotted a Nissan Patrol wagon with modifications travelling north on the Princes Highway just before 3pm on Saturday.
Shortly after, officers attended the home of the driver in Nowra.
The 24-year-old man answered the door and allegedly became aggressive towards the officer, before spitting at the male senior constable and assaulting him.
Further police were called to the scene and the man was arrested.
He was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with seven offences including assaulting police, two counts of resisting arrest and not complying with noticed direction re spitting/coughing - COVID-19.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday, June 15.
In another Shoalhaven-based offence, a different 24-year-old man has been fined $1000 and issued with a field court attendance notice for possessing prohibited drugs.
South Coast Police officers stopped the man riding a bicycle in a dangerous manner and without a helmet in the middle of Knapp Avenue, East Nowra on Friday, April 19.
Police observed the man throw a small plastic bag onto the footpath.
The man was arrested and told police he was on his way to leave the bag, allegedly containing 0.7g methylamphetamine, in a location for a friend to pick up.
He was issued a $1000 Penalty Infringement Notices (PIN) and was charged with possessing a prohibited drug and possessing implements for the self-administer a prohibited drug.
He is due to appear at Nowra Local Court on Monday, June 29.
