NSW is ramping up its COVID-19 testing with plans to check more than 8000 people a day. It comes after the state recorded seven new cases of the virus in the 24 hours to Friday 8.30am.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian on Friday said anyone with symptoms, or is concerned they have COVID-19, should come forward and get tested.
"NSW has one of the highest testing rates in the world and we want to see this boosted even further," Ms Berejiklian said.
"From today, anyone in NSW who has COVID-19 symptoms should come forward and get tested.
"We want to see the number of tests go up above 8000 a day. As we consider easing restrictions, we need to have more tests."
More than 7300 tests were completed on Thursday with seven new cases of COVID-19 reported across the state. The total number of confirmed cases in NSW is 2982.
It comes as the state's COVID-19 death toll reached 34 after a fourth resident at Anglicare's Newmarch House in Caddens died.
NSW Health confirmed the 79-year-old woman died early on Thursday morning.
Meantime, as at 8.30am Friday there were 114 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the Illawarra Shoalhaven Local Health District (ISLHD).
Two patients are being cared for in Wollongong Hospital. Some 92 people have recovered after testing positive for COVID-19. A total of 9052 people have been tested for COVID-19 in the Illawarra/Shoalhaven.
