Campbell had looked to play the long game in signing the likes of Sunday Dech, Angus Glover and Sam Froling to multi-year deals beyond last season.

Glover was contracted for 2020-21, with Dech and Froling the season after, before the club was placed into voluntary administration in April.

It saw all playing and coaching contracts voided ahead of a postponed free agency period that opens on July 1 but Campbell is confident the trio can be retained.

"As you can imagine they're all interested to see what the coach and the ownership will look like," Campbell said.

"Losing that grip on three players we had signed up for next year is obviously disappointing. We had two mutual options [Todd Blanchfield and Emmett Naar] out there and club option [AJ Ogilvy] so we were in a pretty good position from the club point of view.

"To have that ripped away from us has been a bit devastating but, in speaking to those guys, they're all super keen to stay and I'm confident that we'll be in a position, once we get some clarity on our ownership and coaching situation, that we'll be able to retain those guys."

The club signed local product Glover on a multi-year deal while he was still on the comeback trail from his third ACL tear, while Dech also emerged as a genuine starter after being a role player in Perth.

It'll be a tougher task to retain them, but Campbell feels the Hawks can continue to provide the best opportunity for all three to build on breakout campaigns.

"I think that will factor into their thinking and I've had those conversations with them," Campbell said.

"The opportunity they got here to showcase their skills is still available to them. We were really happy with were they were last year but I still think they've still got things to prove.

"They've still got a little bit to go to get into that really top tier and we still provide the best opportunity for them to do that. If they were going to go to a different franchise would the same opportunities be there? Ultimately they've got to make that decision."

How quickly the club can move will ultimately depend on when the NBL rubber-stamps a new owner, something Campbell hopes is sorted well in advance of July 1.

"Come closer to the first of July there obviously will be pressure if we don't have out situation sorted," Campbell said.

"All the agents and GM's will have a good idea about who they want and the budget they have. They'll be well advanced in that space and that's not where we are right now given our situation.

"From my end, I hope it gets sorted and we can have a situation where we have an ownership group sooner rather than later and we can start building our roster and moving forward into a new era for the Hawks."
