Since 2018, during the month of May the Illawarra community has been asked to donate a new pair of socks or jocks for the homeless ahead of winter's arrival.

However, unfortunately the 'Socks n Jocks - wear in this together' initiative will not take place this year.
Founder, Berry resident Grace Rey said due to the impacts and challenges of coronavirus, Socks n Jocks will be cancelled for 2020.
Ms Rey said it was a tough decision to not run the clothes drive this year, but said it would be back in 2021.
"Within the chaos of shutting down schools, workplaces, borders and ensuring our own families' security it's vital we do not overlook the most vulnerable," she said.
"Regrettably this gesture of hope and warmth is not possible this year and this leaves me with much sadness."
Ms Rey launched the campaign in the Shoalhaven in 2018, and expanded it to include the Illawarra in 2019.
She said spreading dignity and warmth were key aims of the campaign, as well as helping those who are most vulnerable to the extremes of the winter months.
While only in its infancy, Ms Rey said Socks n Jocks have been "overwhelmed" with the support for its winter campaign, from both residents and the business community.
She said the appeal has collected thousands of dollars' worth of socks and jocks.
"I have had tremendous backing from the local community in its first two years and this has been overwhelmingly inspiring," she said.
"It's moving to see such spirit and kindness."
Ms Rey said during such a crisis, she hopes the community "reflects a little and digs deeper", and be more appreciative of what they have and what has worth.
She also encouraged the community to donate to other causes which support the homeless this year.
Ms Rey's efforts with the campaign were recognised last year, when she was a finalist and winner of the '2019 Shoalhaven Superheroes Service and Beyond' honour.
