Friends and family of 17-year-old Dejah Stewart have given their condolences and a large memorial of flowers, cards and balloons have been left at the scene of the accident.
A 16-year-old boy was also injured when he was at the controls of a unregistered trail bike that "exploded" after colliding head-on with a Toyota Aurion in the westbound lane on Hertford Street shortly after 11:30pm.
Dejah was thrown at least 10 metres down the road, suffering a life-threatening head injury, which she succumbed to on Thursday.
Friends are remembering Dejah as a "beautiful girl" gone too soon.
"Spread your beautiful wings in heaven gorgeous girl! Forever 17! Young, deadly and beautiful. God has gained another beautiful angel," one friend wrote.
"Rip gorgeous girl, heaven has gained another beautiful angel. You were to young, you never got to live your life. We all love you, you will be missed," another wrote.
"Till we meet again my girl," another friend added.
While a school friend wrote, "I miss you girly. Already school doesn't feel the same without you there. I know you'll be up there slaying and with your beautiful smile. I love you."
Dejah's social media account said she attended Warrawong High School.
Many friends have also commented saying they felt for Dejah's family as her mother also passed away recently.
"Rest in love baby girl. You're now resting right next to your mum. Now fly high in paradise baby girl," one person wrote.
The teens had departed a gathering at a nearby home shortly before they crashed and the accident site was quickly flooded with up to 30 people, creating what police have described as "a highly emotionally-charged environment".
The unlicensed bike rider suffered serious leg injuries and was taken to Wollongong Hospital in an ambulance. He was later airlifted to St George Hospital.
The driver, a 21-year-old man from Figtree, stopped and rendered assistance to the injured teens before they were taken to Wollongong Hospital.
The man was not injured and has undergone mandatory testing.
Police believe Dejah was not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.
Lake Illawarra Police commander, Superintendent Dean Smith said on Monday, "this situation is absolutely tragic."
"The riding of unregistered trail bikes, at that time of night, without protective equipment and for unknown reasons ... is a very dangerous activity," he said.
Inquiries into the incident are continuing by the Crash Investigation Unit.
Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
