Dylan Edwin Riley, 37, of Towradgi appeared in court charged with assault over an incident with his partner, with whom he'd been in an on-again off-again relationship for the last five years.
He was also facing drug cultivation and possession charges over two marijuana plants allegedly found in his home.

According to police facts tendered to court, Riley began arguing with his partner over text messages he read on her phone.
The argument soon became heated and a neighbour allegedly saw him putting his hands on her.
Riley then told her to leave and began carrying some of her possessions to the car.
While outside, the argument escalated to a point where his partner was injured.
"The accused has pushed the victim forward towards a gated fence," the facts alleged.
"The force of the push has caused the victim to go over the fence and land on the other side."
After this, Riley argued with a neighbour before running back inside his home and then re-emerging allegedly armed with a machete.
When police arrived, they searched the house and also allegedly found two cannabis plants and 287 grams of the drug.
In bail court on Sunday, Sgt Tanya Pavlin opposed bail citing concerns for the safety of the alleged victim and also the risk he may commit further offences.
"It is an allegation of domestic violence and the facts disclose Mr Riley holding a machete and coming out the front of the premises when arguing with an independent witness," she said.
Sgt Pavlin said the presence of a machete was concerning as Riley was already on a community corrections order for weapons matters.
Nearby CCTV cameras may have also recorded the alleged confrontation, she said.
Defence solicitor Danilo Rajkovic said Riley claimed he was not the only person armed with a weapon.
He said the neighbour emerged carrying a shotgun and CCTV footage would show Riley yelling "put the shotgun down" before he went in to get the machete.
Mr Rajkovic suggested the CCTV footage would show the neighbour "would have something to hide from police as well".
Riley's partner had just had a miscarriage, Mr Rajkovic said, and the accused was trying to comfort her.
On medication after the miscarriage, the solicitor said she began arguing with Riley and he asked her to leave.
In regard to the marijuana plant, he said they were for Riley's own personal use.
In refusing bail, the registrar noted there were witnesses to the alleged assault on his partner and the concern that a weapon was involved at some point.
Riley was remanded in custody to appear at Wollongong Local Court on Monday.
