On Monday, many people got their first real sign that the Albion Park Rail bypass is coming.
That was when the first of 13 bridges in the project was open to traffic - which was a big deal for a bypass where most of the work occurs out of sight of passing motorists.
"This bridge is the first new aspect and it gives you a new perspective as well," said Kiama MP Gareth Ward.
"If you drive on the bridge you can actually see the work that's happening on the bypass below because this off ramp goes over the bypass."
Transport for NSW posted aerial photos of the bypass construction that shows it is well under way - which may finally end the skepticism around the project.
"I had people coming up to me at the last election saying they thought my claim that the Albion Park Rail bypass would happen was a fallacy," Mr Ward said.
