On Monday, despite the dreadful weather two of this country's best came out to play at Shellharbour Beach.
Mercury photographer Sylvia Liber and just as talented snapper, her husband Brad Liber, were on hand as pro-surfers Sally Fitzgibbons and Dylan Longbottom hit the water.
Fitzgibbons and Longbottom were in their element and had a field day surfing in the large and powerful surf.
Gerroa surfer Fitzgibbons has consistently been ranked among the top five women surfers in the world.
In June 2019, she was ranked No. 1 in women's surfing after winning the 2019 Rio Pro.
Meantime Longbottom, one of the most highly regarded surfer shaper's in the world, is also known for his big wave antics and his free surfing all around the globe.
The big wave surfing legend calls the Illawarra home but travels all over the world chasing big waves.
Big waves are exactly what Longbottom and Fitzgibbons found at Shellharbour Beach on Monday.
With surf conditions expected to be hazardous again on Tuesday, similarly huge swells are expected as well.
