The Rotary Club of West Wollongong has taken up the Adopt a Health Worker challenge put out by Centro CBD Restaurant and purchased 60 meals for frontline hospital workers and staff at Wollongong Hospital.

The service club knows how COVID-19 has impacted many people and organisations in many different ways in the Illawarra. And how charities have found it more difficult to fundraise and help those in need.
Unable to meet in person West Wollongong Rotary members have been holding meetings via Zoom.
The second half of the Rotary year is when they generally decide how to spend charity account funds.
Jim Christensen said traditional fundraising had been restricted in recent months but the club was distributing money into the community. That has included supporting an initiative started by the venue it calls home.
"Our meeting place over the past eight years has been the Centro CBD Restaurant in the heart of Wollongong. It was apparent like all other clubs, pubs, restaurants and cafes they were doing it tough," he said.
"Centro had set up a takeaway service providing the opportunity to assist health workers by purchasing prepared meals to be delivered to the hospital. So the Rotary Club of West Wollongong saw this as a win-win situation and purchased 10 meals every two weeks for six weeks. The smiling faces on the hospital staff says it all".
Mr Christensen said it provided a boost for health workers as well as Centro CBD where club members are looking forward to meeting at again soon on Wednesday evenings.
