The case against Vaughan Robert Rogers was committed for trial in May last year on a charge of aggravated sexual assault (inflict actual bodily harm) but his case was among hundreds of matters across the state that was delayed because of changes to court operations as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In Wollongong District Court on Tuesday, lawyers for both sides agreed to a new trial date of November 16.

The case has an estimated length of five days.

Rogers, 40, from Fairy Meadow, stands accused of stalking the alleged victim at the Towradgi Beach Hotel in the early hours of October 14, 2018, before getting in the back seat of the taxi that took her home.

The woman allegedly told police she only realised Rogers was in the taxi part-way through the journey and she grew uneasy.

She claimed she repeatedly told Rogers he wasn't coming into her house during the trip to her home, and when they arrived, he got out of the vehicle saying he "wanted to walk".

However, the woman claimed she walked to her doorway and turned around to see Rogers standing behind her.

Prosecutors will allege Rogers overpowered the woman and she ended up on the floor in the doorway of her home.

It is alleged Rogers then sexually assaulted her, only leaving some time later when the woman pretended she was asleep.

Vaughan denies the allegations.

He remains on strict conditional bail.
