The 34-year-old played professionally for 11 years, with stints in Perth, Sydney and the Illawarra.
Lisch's retirement caps an illustrious career in which he won league MVPs in 2012 and 2016, the NBL title and finals MVP in 2010 and was named in three All-NBL first teams, along with one second team.
Having achieved so much in his career, the Australian representative thanked those who helped him throughout the journey.
"Through the Grace of God I was blessed to play this game and want to thank my wife Rachel, and children Benjamin, Sofia, Isabel, and Isaac who bring me so much joy and have been my biggest fans," Lisch said in a statement.
"My mom and dad and siblings Stephanie, Theresa, and Daniel have been instrumental in every aspect of my life and basketball career.
"I also want to thank all of my teammates, coaches, fans, and support staff that I have had the privilege to be around, and the NBL for the wonderful environment they have provided me".
"In particular I'd like to thank Rob Beveridge and Warren Craig for their support and friendship, and I am grateful to all of the players and coaches that I competed against who helped me become a better basketball player throughout my journey".
"Lastly I'd like to thank Paul Smith, Chris Pongrass and the Kings organisation for their help during this decision process, and I'm looking forward to continuing my role with the Kings in a different capacity" Lisch said.
The guard was prolific on both sides of the ball, winning the league's scoring title in 2012 before taking out the defensive player of the year award in 2016.
That season was a successful one for both Lisch and the Hawks, the American-born star leading the side to the semi-finals.
Illawarra was defeated by the Wildcats 2-1 in the best of three series, the guard hampered by an ankle injury suffered in the first game.
The third match proved to be his last in Illawarra colours, Lisch moving north to Sydney ahead of the 2016-17 season. That was where the Rio Olympian would play out the final four years of his career.
Lisch's retirement opens up a Kings roster spot for the upcoming NBL season, with the club reportedly circling emerging Hawks Sunday Dech and Angus Glover.
