Police seized multiple electronic devices from the home of Ross Pusser after arresting the 41-year-old near Dapto Railway Station on Thursday morning.
On Tuesday Wollongong Local Court heard police were pressing six new charges, including four counts of using a carriage service to transmit child abuse material and two counts of possessing child abuse material.
Pusser came to police attention in April this year, after detectives from the Child Abuse and Sex Crime Squad's Child Exploitation Internet Unit started talking to him online, posing as a 13-year-old girl.
Police will allege that Pusser believed he was speaking with the underage girl when he described sex acts he wanted to perform on her, and that he went so far as to arrange to meet up with her in person.
Pusser did not appear in court on Tuesday.
His lawyer, Adam Booker, told the court his client was unwell in prison and was now in hospital.
Despite opposition from the prosecution, Pusser was granted bail in court last week, on the condition that he report to police daily, only have one mobile phone and have no access to the internet. A $2000 surety was also required.
But his release never eventuated because no family member would agree to the surety. He has remained in prison since.
The matter returns to court on Friday, when prosecutors are expected to file a detention application.
Pusser's arrest was the result of Strike Force Trawler, an ongoing investigation by the Child Exploitation Internet Unit, focused on the sexual abuse and exploitation of children over the internet and related telecommunications devices.
