The Sky Blues will face Wellington Phoenix on July 17 when the competition re-starts following the football shutdown period.

Shellharbour's King was enjoying a breakout season when play was halted in March, lining up for 18 games in Sydney FC's defence.

However, the return of premiership defender Michael Zullo from a calf injury means the teen's spot is under threat next month.

"I'm pretty sure he's 100 per cent fit now," the 19-year-old left back said.

"He is my competition and a very good player, so I'm not expecting too much game time. Hopefully I'll get the chance to play again."

Sydney FC players returned to training last week. When play resumes, they need just two more wins to secure the Premiers Plate.

"I prepared pretty well in the break. I did a lot of training and runs with the younger boys. But you do notice how much you miss playing football when it's gone," King said.

"There's a good vibe [at the club]. Everyone is positive and just excited to be starting up again. We started the season pretty well... hopefully we can finish off what we started."

Sydney will be "home" to a third club when the A-League gets the green light again next month.

The majority of the Wellington Phoenix's squad touched down in Australia on Saturday to begin 14 days of quarantine at Valentine Sports Park, western Sydney. It will act as a temporary home base ahead of their first clash against competition leaders Sydney FC at Jubilee Stadium on July 17.

While the third-placed Phoenix won't have the easiest preparation, Sky Blues defender Joel King said his side refused to underestimate their opponent.

"The Phoenix are a very good team. Behind us, I think they've been the best team in the comp," the Shellharbour teenager said.

"I'm sure they will be raring to go and they'll be a tough competition. But they won't have the best preparation because they have to do quarantine.

"Getting them first, they might not be as fit as they probably could be. It's an advantage to us."
