The free Retro Groove festival was run in accordance with Make Music Day.
Performers included Rothman and the Red Stripes, Dear Violet, Sako Dermenjian, Young Anxiety and Eversci.
Organiser Rob Miller, the owner of the Retro Groove business said the artists donated their time. A hat was placed out the front for donations, with the funds shared among the performers.
"A lot of people were getting chocolate or coffee from one of the shops next door, sitting for a while and then moving on, while some people stayed there for most of the day," Mr Miller said.
"A lot of people said, 'oh, we haven't seen any live music for four months'. I don't know if there have been any other free live music shows outside in the Wollongong area (since the pandemic).
"We had signs up about keeping social distancing."
Mr Miller said he planned to host such events in Globe Lane on a monthly basis.
