A video showing a stray dog attacking a deer inside the BlueScope steelworks at Port Kembla is going viral, with more than 26,000 views by Friday.
In the scene, uploaded to the Facebook page of a Shellharbour hunting store Extreme Outdoor Sports South Coast and shared with the Mercury, at least two men discover the brutal scene within the steelworks. The dog has the deer, a young male, on the ground.
It has started arguments about whether people should have stopped the attack, or whether it would be too dangerous to get between an angry dog and its prey.

"So I'm chilling at work in the steelworks, and what do I find? A dog fighting a deer," says the man who is filming.
"It's going at him ... how'd that end up in here?"
Bloodied, the deer struggles free of the dog's grasp and almost gets away before being brought down again by the neck.
After a short while another voice, presumable a co-worker, suggests "We should break it up, eh?"
The video ends soon afterwards.
The Mercury has chosen not to publish the video on account of its graphic content.
The dog was identified by several social media users as a pit bull, but others said it was too big for this.
It is not clear when the video was taken but comments indicate it is probably recent.
One Facebook user said that dog has been around the steelworks for "a few months", suggesting it is a stray, but it is wearing a collar.
Another said the attack was stopped and the deer escaped.
