There was a mutual admiration between the two performers, with Biscan rating his opponent so highly he said "to win this battle I'm going to have to pull something crazy out of the hat."
Surrounded by starlights from people holding their mobile phones in the air, the pair took to the stage with their guitars to perform the 1990 Roxette hit It Must Have Been Love.
It was a performance that wowed the judges, with Kelly Rowland describing the moment Bowen started singing one of her favourite songs as "yummy", while Boy George was won over by Biscan's "beautiful quirkiness".
But the ultimate decision rested with the pair's mentor Guy Sebastian.
"The fact that we're looking at losing someone from that performance just shows the calibre of the talent on the show this season," Sebastian said.
"In that song there was someone I was believing slightly more, and that's what makes this so difficult. That person for me tonight was Timothy."
While grateful for being chosen, Bowen praised his rival's performance.
"You're a fantastic songwriter and a fantastic singer," he told Biscan, "and it's a real privilege to share the stage with you."
Bowen, who grew up in Minnamurra but now calls Ulladulla home, moves onto the playoff stage of The Voice.
