Located in the basement car park at Woolworths, the charger can give cars enough juice to travel up to 400 kilometres in just 15 minutes - fast chargers can only provide a 60-kilometre range in that time.
The Chargefox station was built with an investment from the NRMA.
"This is our fourth ultra-rapid site in NSW - the others being located in Sydney, Goulburn and Karuah," a Chargefox spokeswoman said.
"Shell Cove is a first stopping point for EV drivers heading south along the coast. It makes interstate travel possible, and gives accessibility to Macquarie Pass."
Drivers don't need to book in advance, they just use the Chargefox app to check the availability and capacity of the charging station.
