In a strange year for all sportspeople, spare a thought for the 10-year-old. She was set to play her first game for the Albion Park under-11s in March, but the season was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Instead, Football South Coast's junior competition kicked off on Saturday.
Close to 10,000 juniors - including around 2500 girls - will take to the field across the region during the 2020 season.
Charli's mum Karen Sciberras said her daughter was drawn to playing football because of her family.
"Her brother has played soccer since under-6s and loves it, he's in first division this year," she said.
"It's in our lives, she knows nothing else but soccer. She will play with school friends, and friends she's grown up with through her brother playing soccer."
