In making the decision, the governing body cited concerns over Bridge's conduct and an inability to rectify his behaviour.

Under the Greater Illawarra Zone constitution, Cricket NSW has the power to terminate the administrator upon consultation with the committee of management.

Bridge will remain in his role of Cricket Illawarra administrator, with the position solely determined by the 10 clubs in the association.

The tensions between Bridge and Cricket NSW have been simmering away for more than a year.

The main point of contention has been the role of Cricket NSW community managers, with Bridge pushing back against their efforts to play a greater role in running the sport in the Illawarra.

Just last month Cricket NSW chief executive Lee Germon told the Mercury his organisation was hoping to resolve the dispute without taking the significant step of removing Bridge.

Germon held a phone conversation with Greater Illawarra chairman Ian Hogg in late June, in which the pair agreed the administrator should be replaced.

Bridge acknowledged he has had conflict with some Cricket NSW staff, however he said he still has support of the Zone's four associations.

"They're saying my relationship with Cricket NSW is untenable," Bridge said. "The reality is it's only three staff that I've had issues with.

"The associations are all behind me. I protect the four associations like I protect the 10 Cricket Illawarra clubs. It's unfortunate to get sacked for doing the right thing."

In a statement, Germon confirmed Bridge will no longer continue in the role and thanked him for his contributions to the Zone.

"Cricket NSW confirms that Glenn Bridge's services as Zone Administrator for the Greater Illawarra Zone will come to an end on July 19," Germon said.

"Glenn's separate role as Cricket Illawarra's Administrator will not be impacted by this decision.

"The Cricket Illawarra Association Committee and Clubs appoint their local administrator.

"Cricket NSW would like to thank Glenn for his work with the Greater Illawarra Zone."

The decision to remove Bridge as administrator comes just three weeks ahead of the Zone's Annual General Meeting on July 26.

If a full-time candidate is not identified before then, a temporary administrator can be installed.

Despite the conflict, Bridge has vowed to continue in his role as Cricket Illawarra administrator.

The association has been without a president for the past two seasons, a situation that is likely to continue. Bridge has effectively run Cricket Illawarra in the absence of a president.

He has also expressed his intention to run for the position of chairman at the Greater Illawarra Zone AGM, with Hogg expected to stand down at the meeting.
