The 23-year-old has finished his apprenticeship at electrical contractors Stowe Australia, on Auburn St in Wollongong, and is now in his first year as a tradesman there.
And the recognition keeps coming - in addition to a significant in-house award from Stowe, and the National Electrical Contractors Association NSW industrial apprentice of the year award, he's now won that prize at the NSW Education Department-sponsored Training Awards for the south-east region of NSW.
Mr Taylor said that the Stowe's Pat Brown Memorial award, which includes character and community contributions, was in particular a high point of his budding career.
He received the NSW Training Awards trophy on Thursday, which he called "an awesome feeling".
"When I was at the end of school [at Kiama High] I wanted to pursue a career in a few different careers, mechanical as well as electrical," he said.
"As technology changes, the electrical industry is always changing, so you're not really going to run out of things to learn. It's a job that I can continue to grow with."
Through his apprenticeship Mr Taylor has been able to gain valuable experience all around his electrical craft, from working on naval bases at HMAS Creswell and HMAS Albatross, to doing industrial refurbishment work, office fit-outs, preventative maintenance, and also more "reactive" call-out fixes when required.
And he paid tribute to his workmates at the Auburn St operation.
"You get a bit of everything - every day is interesting," he said. "They're an awesome crew [at Stowe]. All the boys are happy to lend a hand and if I've got any questions we'll get to the bottom of the task at hand."
Meanwhile he's taken the opportunity to keep learning, continuing his education with training in solar photo-voltaic systems, a communications course, optical fibre work, and a diploma in project management, in which Mr Taylor is particularly interested.
"I'm very keen to get involved in project management - getting involved in projects I can manage myself," he said.
