United clinched the 2020 Frat Cup trophy with a 2-0 win over Coniston on Sunday afternoon to continue their recent dominance. They've won four of the competition's past five titles.
Billy Tsovolos gave his side a 1-0 advantage in the 27th minute and that's how the score remained at half time.
It was a see-sawing battle in the second half, before substitute Jeremy Flanagan put the icing on the cake with around 10 minutes remaining.
The victory was the perfect launching pad for Wollongong ahead of this year's shortened Premier League season, with teams to meet each other before the finals.
United will kick off their IPL campaign against old foe Wollongong Olympic this Saturday at Macedonia Park.
United coach Oli Vrtkovski said his team showed plenty of positive signs during Sunday's win but he wouldn't underestimate their rivals.
"I think this game has put us in good stead," he said.
"I think it's going to be more of an open game and it will play into both party's hands. I think whoever can keep possession more, move the ball more will dominate the game and get the result."
