Sperring and skipper Taylor won five matches to claim the Major Pairs championship after beating Chris Green and John Hills 23-15 in last Saturday's decider.
Sperring returned to Dapto Citz after also playing for Berkeley and Dapto Huntley and now has his maiden Citos Major Pairs title after three times being a finalist.
''It's a strong club event with a lot of top players so to have a good run here is great,'' said Sperring.
Taylor was playing in his first Citos club final after joining from the defunct Dapto Huntley, where he won a number of club championships.
Now the duo are Pairs champions at one of Illawarra's biggest clubs and have qualified for the Zone Champion of Club Champion Pairs in late October.
The final was in the balance after 16 of the 21 ends with Sperring and Taylor leading 14-13. Taylor then picked up his third four of the match on the 17th end, followed by another two of the 18th to lead 20-13 - the biggest advantage of the contest.
Green and Hills then picked up a two but Taylor and Sperring won the final two ends to secure an eight-shot win.
Though finishing just short of the title, Green and Hills won five matches and continued their great record in club championships having combined previously to win the Triples and Fours.
''I've given away pennants and only play championships now so it's good to join Chris and play in another final,'' Hills said.
Green and Hills beat Rick McCelland and Brad Whitford 21-13 in their semi-final, while Sperring and Taylor defeated Stuart Ellem-Brian Harriott 21-12.
Dapto Citizens' Major Pairs was held over five rounds and featured 24 teams.
Meanwhile, Rick Malley booked his spot in Citos' Major Singles final with a 31-12 semi-final win over Buster Connell last Saturday.
From 7-5 ahead after eight ends, Malley went on a 10-1 run over the next seven ends to lead 17-6 and take a stranglehold on the semi.
Malley takes on the winner of the second semi-final this Saturday (AUG 1) between Jarrod Beckford and Chris Schofield.
Forty members nominated for their Open Singles with up to six wins required to take the title.
All Zone 16 clubs are in the process of completing their Championships events with priority to the Open Singles and Pairs given that the winners play in the Zone Champion of Club Champions Singles and Pairs.
The Zone 16 champions then compete against the other 15 zone winners in the NSW Finals in November.
Zone 16 clubs can publicise its club champions for 2020 by emailing Mike Driscoll at mikedriscoll@hotmail.com over the next few weeks.
