They were flicking their usual array of plastics when Ted set the hook, thinking flatty.
But 20 minutes later they boated a 71cm kingfish - yes in the river!

Last week, local snapper fisho Terry Taffom went out off Wollongong to chase up a few reds for the table and came home almost needing a fresh set of underwear.
Four hours of drift berleying in 20 odd fathoms, he had four reds in the esky when totally from nowhere a very large shark - thought to be a white, took a definite liking to Terry's new green drogue and left behind a nice row of teeth marks that measured 400mm across.
Fishing continued but with a very guarded eye on the water until thoughts of self-preservation overtook the need for more fish and he was happy to set foot ashore once again.
