It is already available in the Illawarra, where commuters can check via various apps to see whether it's going to be on time.
They can also see if there are any seats available.
Buses in the Nowra-Bomaderry region will be fitted out with the real-time tracking technology, as part of a regional rollout that is scheduled to start at the back end of August.
"The technology has already been rolled out in Dubbo, Coffs Harbour and Bega with great results and we are excited to be expanding this program to another 14 regional centres, " the Minister for Regional Transport and Roads Paul Toole said.
"It will allow customers to track the location of the bus, its estimated arrival time at a stop, and how full the bus is."
