They will always fight until the end.

After making their debut last week, the Blaze's opens and under 23s teams both secured come-from-behind wins against the Panthers in the NSW Premier League on Wednesday night.

The opens recorded a 61-57 victory while the under-23s won 49-48.

After last week's 80-52 debut loss to the ERNA Hawks, the Blaze opens bounced back in emphatic style.

However, the Blaze felt the pressure early against a classy Panthers side, trailing 15-5 in the first quarter.

South Coast coach Marji Parr called on experienced pair Kristina Brice and Taylah Davies to lead in the second quarter and they responded, helping cut the deficit to 29-23 at half time.

The introduction of Illawarra talent Laura Davenport made an immediate impact, as she provided a great support to goal shooter Brice. The Blaze led by 44-43 heading into the last quarter.

The momentum continued with the Blaze as they showed great spirit to outscore the Panthers by 17-14 in the fourth, securing their inaugural Premier League victory.

"I'm very proud with how the team managed to turn it around, particularly in the second and third quarter," Blaze coach Marji Parr said.

"We didn't start as well as we'd like to and we've definitely got that down to look at, re-assess and adjust over the coming training sessions so we're more prepared for our next game against Central Coast Heart.

"I think the biggest turning point was when we realised we could actually continue with our rolling subs and still maintain our momentum, and run through sets of our centre pass plays and get the athletes really moving through and working in team combinations, which was really pleasing as a coach to see."

Parr said the Blaze showed great fighting spirit to muster a comeback on Wednesday night.

"Being 10 down going into the second quarter and watching them recover that, and being able to lift and continue to put that focus and put the pressure on in the third quarter made a world of difference in that last quarter bringing us home," she said.

"That was a really pleasing effort in terms of that fight from the club, for both the opens and 23s. They had a tough game as well. We were very happy for South Coast Blaze to come away with two wins."

The Blaze's under 23s have continued their perfect start to 2020, after defeating the Hawks by 52-46 in round one.

The team also had a slow start on Wednesday night, trailing 13-8 in the opening quarter and 25-19 at half time.

The injection of Abbey Baker at centre proved crucial in the third quarter, while 16-year-old Chloe Burden was determined in defence. The shooting duo of Ky-Mani Schwenke and Emily Dunn also found their groove as the Blaze led 38-35 at three-quarter time.

The Panthers showed great grit in the final quarter, but the Blaze held on to win by one.
