ALMOST COMICAL
Doug Steley's 'Blame the Racists' (Illawarra Mercury, July 29) raises additional concern about the attack on our language by the offended, the PC police, and activists. Coon Cheese was named after the creator of its process of manufacture, a white man called Edward William Coon. It was clearly named after him and without any reference to any race and I am extremely surprised that anyone would seriously believe it was, and couldn't be convinced they were mistaken: unless it's just the use of the word "coon" in any situation that offends. So, what's next? Will all those who bear the surname of Coon, Coone, Cooney, or other similar names be now hunted by the Mob until they too change their names? You laugh? Well, explain how this would be different to the offence caused by the name Coon for a type of cheese. If its use as a name or word has been deemed offensive it should deemed be offensive in any instance where it is used. If this incident wasn't part of a much more serious and dangerous push to destroy all forms of cohesiveness within our society, it would be comical.

RECOGNISE DISADVANTAGE
It has now become very clear, with the rants of Scott Morrison, Gladys Berejiklian against the Sydney BLM Rally, that BLACK LIVES DON'T MATTER. I come to this conclusion, because the leaders Morrison and Berejiklian and their governments are prepared to rant about the protest and the protesters, but do not have any concrete views or suggestions in dealing with the problem that has very clearly been identified.
There is a risk of Covid infections. In previous rallies, the organisers have put in place measures to try and eliminate the risk of transmission. Go out and about in Wollongong and you will see the general disregard there is for social distancing.
Some venues, shopping centres and shops/activities have embraced social distancing. It would have been more appropriate for Berejiklian to direct the Police to work with the protest organisers to achieve compliance with the public health aims. We as a community need to recognise Black disadvantage. Federal Government achievements as outlined in the 'Closing The Gap' reports show a pitiful effort by both Labor and LNP governments to 'Close the Gap' in indigenous disadvantage.

PROFITS ABOVE PEOPLE
So Treasurer Josh Frydenberg holds one time leaders Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher as the best example to follow to fix Australia's pending enormous capitalist system collapse. Reagan decimated the automobile Industry in America, and Thatcher sold every single British Government owned asset that she could lay her hands on. Our successive Coalition governments forget that they have already done that. Not a single sell off led to lower prices for any Australians after privatisation.
Sky News reckons that Frydenberg is definitely on the right track and enthusiastically give a rubber stamp to this potential stupidity. Sky lackeys want to introduce Work for the Dole. Those readers who take the trouble to research Sky News Liberal Party policy will see that it mirrors Adolph Hitler's Mein Kampf, virtually word for word. Profit Sets You Free.
