The veteran centre, along with twin brother Brett, has been in vintage form for the reigning premiers in 2020.

Morris missed last week's win over the Titans due to a calf complaint, but looms as an outside chance to return against the Dragons.

If Morris gets the green light, Lomax will be ready.

"Everyone has seen the form he is in. It will be a good test for me and I'm going to hopefully go toe to toe with him. It will be good match up, but I'm confident I can go out there and do a good role for the team," he said.

"I've watched him play a fair bit of State of Origin. He's a class centre and so is his brother. They've played probably 250 NRL games and played for their state and played for Australia. They're looking at extending [their contracts] next year, and that's not for no reason. It's because they keep producing week in, week out, and they're in a good team that's been successful for a number of years now.

"Whoever I come up against, I just have to do my role for the team and compete on each play."

The Dragons sit in 11^th spot on the ladder and will look to keep their faint finals hopes alive against the Roosters. Lomax was bullish about St George Illawarra's chances, but said they would need to lift.

"Every team, you've got to be at your best to beat them," he said. "The Roosters, they're not two-time premiers for no reason and they throw real good shape at every team and they're such a class team. Their defence is as good as anyone's and we're definitely going to have to be on our game to put up a good performance against them. But I'm confident we can do that."

While coach Paul McGregor promised that Lomax would have first crack at the no.1 jersey over the summer, the 20-year-old has instead found a home in the Dragons centres this season.

Lomax has scored eight tries, two behind teammate Matt Dufty, and sits third on the NRL's 2020 leading point-scorer list with 104.

Lomax, who re-signed until the end of the 2025 season in December, has been happy with "a few of my games" but says there's "definitely things that I need to work on".

"I'm trying to build good relationships and combinations with my edge. People like 'Mika' [Mikaele Ravalawa] and 'Friz' [Tyson Frizell] are always on my edge. I feel like we've got combinations building there week in, week out," he said.

"The confidence that some of those younger lads are bringing to the team is unbelievable. It's been great to see how well 'Cluney' [Adam Clune] has been playing, and 'Duf' as well. They've added so much to our team, especially our attack. The string to our bow that they've brought is unbelievable and I'm confident they're going to be able to do the same thing week in, week out.

"I know I definitely get a lot of confidence playing outside of them and I feel like we're definitely going in the right direction."
