Governor of NSW Margaret Beazley launched the 2020 awards which recognise service to the community, commitment, dedication, perseverance and proactivity in improving the lives of others.
The NSW Inspirational Women's Awards (RIWA) were initiated by women Rotarians in the Greater Sydney and Illawarrra Clubs and are in keeping with Rotary's motto of 'Service Above Self'.
The purpose of RIWA is to acknowledge and celebrate community service performed by women through their vocations, selfless gifts of their skills and their time in activities and endeavours.
The awards recognise the "quiet achievers" whose actions inspire others and make a real difference in their communities.
And are open to all women above the age of 18 in NSW.
Communities across the state are being encouraged to submit online nominations at www.riwa.com.au.
NSW Minister for Women Bronnie Taylor described the awards as a fantastic way of shining a light on some of the brilliant women who dedicate themselves to making life better for people across NSW every day.
"It is so important to acknowledge their incredible achievements and to let them know their hard work does not go unnoticed," she said.
There will be a geographical, urban and rural winner in each catergory which are Young Inspirational Woman of the Year for women aged between 18 and 30, Inspirational Woman of the Year for women over 30 and Inspirational 2020 Health Worker which is open to all women over 18.
Nominations close on September 23 when a panel of independent judges, from Rotary across NSW, will assess all nominees and name 24 finalists on October 7, 2020.
Winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Sydney on November 15.
