This historic pub, built in 1884, will become a new multi-level hospitality venue with amazing views whilst keeping true to its heritage charm.
The venue, which has been closed for many years, will include a restaurant across three floors, an all-day-dining café and host a range of lifestyle workshop classes, celebrations and meetings.
Located on Grand Pacific Drive, the venue, owned by Shellharbour Workers Club, will include a weather-proofed indoor-outdoor space offering views of the ocean.
Sydney-based construction company Mammoth Projects' Wayne Clarges said progress for the refurbishment was progressing well.
"All major structural work has been completed and we are due to start the fit-out inside very soon," the project manager, and Illawarra resident, said.
"The basement was excavated after the external walls were unpinned. The basement level will include a private dining room, along with amenities and cool and dry storage.
"The fit-out will include installing the bars, kitchen with exhaust hood, cookers, dishwashers, as well as the tiles, timber flooring, plasterboard walls and timber and aluminum windows."
The company will reveal the facade, including the newly white-painted exterior and charcoal-coloured signage, next week when the scaffolding is dismantled.
Mr Clarges said despite a few delays due to weather, the company was still on track to complete the project in November.
He said the major structural works had been a slow and tedious process for workers as the 120-year-old building had to be underpinned, with work done in sections.
The manager said the workers had found some very old bottles, newspaper clippings, pots and pans during the excavation process.
