A disqualified driver with a history of flouting road rules, Ryan Elliott Twist was already well known to police when they spotted him behind the wheel of a white Holden Commodore at Albion Park Rail during afternoon peak hour in November 2018.
Police attempted to pull the car over but Twist accelerated off, using the breakdown lane to undertake several vehicles as he travelled northbound on the Princes Highway.
The vehicle sustained significant damage during the ensuing chase, however Twist drove it all the way to Wollongong until it conked out near the Princes Highway exit at North Wollongong.
The entire incident was captured on the police vehicle's in-car video, which showed the Commodore disintegrate around Twist as he drove.
He was sentenced to 15 months' jail at the time, however it appeared Twist learned little from his time in custody.
In documents tendered to Wollongong Local Court on Wednesday, police said they discovered Twist illegally driving twice in as many months this year, despite the fact his licence is disqualified until 2032.
On February 28, he was busted driving a Mustang into the Mercure Hotel carpark at Gerringong, while on March 4, a police officer familiar with the 33-year-old saw him driving a car at Shoalhaven Heads.
Twist was wanted over both incidents when police turned up at his Saddleback Mountain home two days later.
Officers surrounded the house and knocked on the door, however Twist jumped through a rear window then tried to scale a barbed wire fence in a bid to avoid capture.
He was tackled to the ground by police and eventually handcuffed.
Police searched Twist's pockets, locating $1,650 in cash. As they continued their search, officers heard heard a plastic sound and felt an object down the front of Twist's pants.
He tried to resist any further searching, however officers pushed him to the ground and rummaged through his pants, uncovering 36.6g of meth in two resealable bags stashed inside his underwear.
Twist was charged with drug supply and driving offences, to which he pleaded guilty in court on Wednesday.
He remains behind bars and will face sentencing on September 11.
