Mr Mitchley provided an overview of the projects progress and details about local participation.
That included a list of opportunities for berth works construction that will take 14 to 16 months, pipeline construction that will take six to nine months and ongoing operations.
Mr Mitchley's presentation included a list Illawarra Innovation Industry Network (i3net) members were encouraged to register an interest in.
For berth work construction and pipeline construction they include demolition, civil works, earth works, temporary buildings, transport of dredged material, concrete supply, welding, piping, steel fabrication, electrical works, surveying, steel reinforcement, security, traffic management and catering.
For ongoing operations the list includes security, ongoing maintenance, cleaning, catering, waste management, pipeline and easement maintenance, administrative support and regulatory and compliance work.
Mr Mitchley said two locals Michael Lepke and Chris Happe had recently joined the AIE team which is presently using the SmartSpace facility at UOW's Innovation Campus.
He said the main construction contractor SCSB was presently engaging with local suppliers.
It estimates $76 million of work will be subcontracted to businesses in the region.
SCSB has already gone out to local businesses for packages including stormwater works and pressure vessels for Cringila tie-in facilities.
He said that AIE was staying in touch with Regional Development on the Energy Hub concept for the Illawarra as the company was keen to be part of the region's future.
