Four of those were overseas travellers in hotel quarantine, three were linked to the CBD cluster (bringing the total to 64), one was in contact with a previously reported case (a woman in her 30s from South West Sydney) and two were from unknown sources.
The latter two were currently under investigation: a man in his 40s from Northern Sydney and a child from Western Sydney.
Two of Saturday's new cases attend Kincoppal Rose Bay School of the Sacred Heart, which will be closed on Monday for cleaning (the early learning centre and junior school are to remain open).
One new case attends Lidcombe Public School, which will also be cleaned and contact tracing to continue.
NSW Health is currently treating 90 COVID-19 cases - the majority of which are in out-of-hospital - while seven patients are in intensive care.
It comes as the Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews announced on Sunday stage four lockdown would be extended by two weeks from September 13, though with some changes made.
The state recorded 63 new cases, the lowest daily total since late June, and five additional deaths.
