The wireless, low-cost asset trackers can be used in everything from the construction to landscaping and hire equipment industries to keep track of assets.
Ellie Lezcano said the company was founded by chief executive Michael Burton four years ago and has evolved significantly.
"We started in 2016 by developing tracking devices for the beer industry," she said.
"We developed a really robust device for that industry because beer kegs get knocked around a lot.
"But as we were rolling it out we found so many people were interested in the technology.
"So we developed the Cicada as a more general purpose asset tracker that can stick on anything".
Mr Burton said his goal was to come up with a cost-effective solution for all applications and now the business is ready to roll them out to all manner of businesses wanting to keep track all kinds of things
And he was keen to come up with something that could also be used for lower value assets.
"People are used to tracking vehicles and heavy equipment with expensive telematics solutions," he said.
"That's why there has been such a huge surge in telematics and vehicle tracking.
"Companies are realising that they can't act on what they don't know.
"The trouble is that this information has always been expensive to get, so companies only focus on the big-ticket items.
"With the Cicada, companies can get that same quality of information, at a much lower price point, making it achievable for smaller items".
Mr Burton said the sensors have been developed in-house with low power technology.
They are self-contained and can be run for thousands of uploads on a single set of replaceable batteries.
"Companies assume that because the equipment is booked to a project it is in use, or because a shipment has been dispatched, it is taking the most direct route," he said.
"This simply isn't the case.
"We've seen project managers book out equipment to a project and leave it there idle for weeks, just so it was there when they were ready for it.
"We've even seen food and beverage shipped from Sydney to Melbourne via Perth.
"There's efficiency to be found everywhere, but without data, you can't fix what you can't see."
