There is plenty on the line when old foe the Chiefs and the Eagles meet on Saturday in round 11 of the Illawarra Baseball League grade season. With two regular rounds remaining, Dapto and Berkeley sit in second and third spot on the ladder.
Dapto coach Jye Pitt said it was a crucial game for both sides and he expected a tough battle from the three-time reigning champions.
"It will be quite a competitive game, there will be a lot of emotion in it too," he said.
"It's coming down to the pointy end of the season and both teams need to win. With the draw the way it is, the top three is so close and no one can falter to drop a game.
"They've [Berekeley] always been tough, they've been a powerhouse for the last three or four years where they've won the competition. They're certainly a very strong side and they're all local guys who have played at various level, quite a few at the high level like Tim Atherton who play for the Australian national team.
"They're a very strong opponent, and we've had a rivalry for the past three or four decades. I expect a good day and anyone can win it."
The Chiefs are missing a couple of players due to injuries and unavailability, however Pitt said he was pleased with his team's form.
"We had a good win last Saturday, it was a tough win in a low-scoring affair [against the Pirates]," he said.
"We're starting to hit our straps at the right end of the year. We've been there, or thereabouts all year but I think we'll be tough to beat."
In Saturday's other first grade game, the Cardinals will take on the Pirates.
