A woman due to face Wollongong Local Court this morning on offensive behaviour charges has been detained outside the courthouse and taken away by police amid allegations she was seen urinating and defecating in the gutter.
The woman, who the Mercury understands was heavily intoxicated, was seen stumbling and had to be held up by three officers as she was loaded into a police van a short time ago.
A bystander waiting outside the building for a court matter told the Mercury the woman arrived at the courthouse in a black car, which was parked on an angle.
"She's been here since 9.30 this morning," the witness said.
"She sat in the passenger seat, cracked open a beer and started hurling abuse at everyone while drinking VB."
The witness said the woman then proceeded to take a piss and a shit in the gutter in full view of dozens of people waiting for court.
"She got out, undid her zipper then she couldn't get up," the bystander said.
The Mercury understand a second woman waiting at the front of the court for a matter confronted the woman and attempted to air slap her, telling her off for her behaviour.
A NSW Police spokesperson said the woman was transported to her home and has not been charged over the incident.
