Shellharbour 'Get Around It' is actively encouraging people in the community to get out and about and explore everything there is to see and do as well as support local businesses.
Ms Johnston said the campaign focuses on locals and visiting friends and relatives amid the recent challenges faced by the tourism industry.
"We want to spread awareness of all of the wonderful things to see and do in the Shellharbour region and ensure locals know how to show their friends and family a superb time when they visit."
The Get Around It campaign is offering locals the chance to win one of three "Ultimate Shellharbour Experience" packs.
Ms Johnston said social media will be a focus of the promotion with Shellharbour now having its own Instagram filter and a range of stickers and giphys to interact with on Facebook and Instagram.
"We are encouraging everyone to have some fun with this promotion," she said.
"Rather than your typical social media photography competition, we wanted to do something a little more quirky, and something people of all ages and abilities can get involved with. The spiral shell shape is synonymous with the Shellharbour region, and we want people to get creative, find or create spiral and swirl shapes in the world around them, snap them on their phone and share with us on social media."
Wisdom has been involved in the developing the campaign which is supported by Shellharbour t-shirts, tote bags and stickers at the Visitor Information Centre on the corner of Addison and Wentworth streets in Shellharbour Village.
