Officers attempted to pull over a a grey Mazda near the Nan Tien Temple about 10am Tuesday.

Police gave chase when the driver failed to stop. The car was abandoned at the intersection of Shaftsbury Avenue and Mavis Grove at West Wollongong a short time later.

The male driver and female passenger fled on foot, sparking a police foot chase through West Wollongong.

The pair remain on the run.
