In recent times, Albion Park teenage musician Aodhan has released several original songs, collaborated with one of his heroes and inked a publishing deal with a UK-based company.
You can now add recording in an "actual studio" to his list of achievements.
The 16-year-old singer/songwriter (real name Aidan Whitehall) previously won JJJ's Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative with his track When Your Eyes Speak.
Following up recent single Drive, he's been nominated as an Unearthed High finalist this year with new single Twelve Again, which is out on September 25.
"Twelve Again is a song that reminisces on the carefree days of being a 12-year-old," Aodhan said.
"The song mentions things about me missing the best friends I ever had, acting careless and fracturing a bone for the first time. Just all sorts of things having to do with that time of my life.
"Although it may have not been too long ago, I do really miss it."
Recorded with Ryan Miller (Angus and Julia Stone, Peking Duk, Thelma Plum) at Hercules St Studio in Sydney, it was Aodhan's first experience in a music studio.
Aodhan recorded almost all the instruments (acoustic and electric guitar, synths, bass guitar, vocals), with help from Grant Garethy (John Butler Trio) on drums.
"This was the first time I got to make some music in an actual studio so it was pretty awesome to have access to a range of amps and instruments I could just mess around with, as well as an awesome producer and an awesome drummer to throw ideas around," Aodhan said.
Earlier this year, the Albion Park High student announced his signing with Communion Publishing, the publishing division of Communion Music.
Also, as part of his Unearthed High Indigenous Initiative prize, Aodhan won a mentoring day at school with ARIA Award winning singer/songwriter Josh Pyke.
Earlier this year, Aodhan released Drive, the track which he collaborated on with musical hero Pyke.
