The Gorillas emerged victorious by 51-30 over Berry-Shoalhaven Heads in their Group Seven first grade clash.
Curtis Stone scored a hat-trick for the winners, while Berry's Bill Ryder also crossed for three tries.
However, Grant said Warilla-Lake South needed to lift - particularly in defence.
"The end result was good for us, but we leaked some points that we weren't happy with. But we got the two points at Berry which was the benefit of it," he said.
"We need to work on our defence at the moment. We leaked some points, and the week before too, so we want to try and tighten that up.
"But we're travelling pretty nicely. We've got a couple of guys coming back from injuries but I'm pretty sure we lost a few on Saturday too. We'll know a bit more on Tuesday at training."

While they will look to improve their defence, Grant said Warilla's attack was one of their "biggest attributes".
"Our pace in our backline sort of contributes to that," he said.
"We're starting to execute pretty nicely at the right end."
Elsewhere on the weekend, the Knights sealed a 28-0 win over the Eagles, Jamberoo beat the Stingrays by 32-14 and Gerringong clinched a 36-26 victory against Nowra-Bomaderry.
