On Sunday night, the 26-year-old was rewarded for his consistency by claiming the Dragons Player of the Year Medal for the second successive season.

To cap off a night of celebrations, McInnes was also named in NSW's preliminary squad for the upcoming State of Origin series.

McInnes spent his time on the field between hooker and lock in 2020. And despite missing the opening two games due to a leg injury suffered at the Perth Nines in February, he topped the NRL's tackle count.

The captain now sits one win behind three-time Player of the Year awardees Ben Creagh and Jason Ryles.

The presentation was made following St George Illawarra's 30-22 victory over the Storm at Jubilee Oval.

Tyson Frizell capped off his Dragons career by winning the club's Immortals Trophy for the first time.

The back rower, who will join the Knights in 2021, was selected by the Red V by coaching staff for demonstrating outstanding commitment and dedication in all aspects of rugby league.

Frizell has now won every performance-based award throughout his eight-year stint at St George Illawarra - including the Dragons Player of the Year Medal in 2016.

Dragons rookie Adam Clune received the Geoff Selby Memorial Trophy for the selflessness and commitment demonstrated throughout his debut season. The award is named in honour of former Dragons prop Selby, who passed away in 1989.

Departing utility Tristan Sailor received the Mark Coyne Trophy, which recognises career development.

Sailor recently completed a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Wollongong and has since started a Bachelor of Architectural Studies at the University of NSW.

The Red V Members' Player of the Year, as well as all Dragons NRLW awards, will be announced at a later date.
