The students had the NSW National Premier Leagues women's premiership sewed up before the match had even begun, the side carrying a four-point lead into this weekend's final round.
Illawarra were unable to upset their highly-fancied rivals, falling 3-1 in a tough road trip to Sydney.
The hosts hit the front in just the second minute, before they made it 2-0 shortly before the half-time break.
A third goal in the 60th minute ensured Sydney Uni would lift the premiers trophy in style, before the Stingrays added a goal of their own in the 79th minute to cut the margin to two.
The defeat closes a challenging season for the Illawarra women, the side finishing ninth on the ladder with four wins, a draw and six losses.
With a young squad, the Stingrays are hoping to build towards the finals in the years to come.
